Administration
No parish can function properly without a thoughtful approach to its day to day operation, intelligent forward planning and responsible management of its financial affairs. We are fortunate to have a well structured team of both priest and parishioners to take shoulder these responsibilities.
PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
On Monday September 20th 1993 a parish meeting in Our Lady of Victories Church decided that a Parish Pastoral Council should be formed and on Monday November 1st of that year a Steering Committee was formed consisting of 13 parishioners selected by Fr. Keith. The group was chaired by Fr. Keith and spent a whole year working out a formal constitution.
Since then we have moved on and since 1999
revised rules now state that the P.P.C. will consist of 12 members, nine of
which are to be elected and three nominated by the parish priest. Of the nine
six are elected from our Southwell congregation and
three from Calverton. Only the congregation of each church can vote for their
own representatives.
Each year three members stand down for elections to take place. In this way we
achieve continuity and yet a change as new blood comes is brought into the
Council. The longest a member can serve is nine years without a break.

PLANNED GIVING & ‘GIFT AID’
Our parish operates a ‘planned giving’
scheme whereby parishioners determine how much they wish to give to the church
weekly. They then make a pledge for that amount and are provided with envelopes
in which to put their weekly offering. This scheme enables financial planning
to be done in advance with a, by and large, known income.
Tax paying parishioners are are also asked to
participate in a government sponsored ‘gift aid’ scheme whereby income tax they
have paid on the amount they give can be reclaimed by the church as a
registered charity. Obviously the more parishioners who participate the better
financial return for the church.
Our parish co-ordinator for both these schemes is
Patrick Johnson.
