The congregation of our parish in the heart of England welcomes you to our website. Our Lady of Victories Southwell
The church’s name
‘Our Lady of Victories’ is a dedication to the Blessed Virgin Mary commemorating the naval battle at Lepanto in 1571 when a combined Christian Fleet defeated the Turks preventing their occupation of Europe.

'St. Anthony of Padua was born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1195. An Augustinian at 15 he became a Franciscan ten years later. Famous as both Teacher and Preacher in France and Italy he died aged 36 and was canonised the following year. Patron Saint. of Portugal.'
